I've just read via Jason Clark that Robert Webber died on Friday after a battle with cancer. In recent years Webber had written some important books on worship and church, especially his Ancient-Future series and The Younger Evangelicals (2002, Baker). He has also written favourably on the back of John Colwell's new book. On Friday I had actually just got hold of Ancient-Future Faith (Baker, 1999), which is Webber's attempt to rethinking evangelicalism for a postmodern world. He was taking up similar themes to Andrew Walker's concept of 'deep church'. He will be sadly missed.
Thanks for this, Andy. He will be sadly missed. Ancient-Future Faith is a classic book. Hope the BU Assembly is good.
