I love a good book and this one arrived on my doormat this morning. It's the new book by Sam Wells, author of Improvisation, which was one of the best books I read in 2004/5. This one could be one of the best of 2006. As I continue to wrestle with ecclesiology and the implications of being church, this is another book to help. Wells' argument is that God in Jesus, the church and the eucharist has given us everything we need to God's companions. He wants to see the way we be and do church, especially the elements that make up the eucharistic service, as the resources required we to live the Christian life. That is what we do and say is moral training or discipleship for the Christian life. The book is full of stories which demonstrate Well's argument and that show the simplicity of being members of God's people can enable us to embody the Christian life.
