I think that in most of evangelicalism it's hard to be a prophetic voice raising the issue of lament, pointing out that we've got an emperors new clothes syndrome.

Prophets have a poor track record for reaching old age, they tend to be killed by their hearers. While our friends may not kill us for expressing such views they may dismiss this analysis by saying that we've sold out to the cynicism of Gen X, that we're making God small, that we need to see things with the eyes of faith etc etc. And with this their heads are buried further in the sand and our sense of despair grows!


Tis a great book, which I'd reccomend to anyone - I look forward to hearing what you think of it in general, when you've finished.
