The Sam Sharpe Project is launched this week. It has a great website and lots of events and resources planned. The project emerged following the 2007 apology the Baptist Union made for its involvement in the slave trade. A conference was held on Sam Sharpe at Regent's Park College in 2010 and the setting up of this project is the next stage. I hope it has a big impact on our Baptist life and beyond.
You can purchase (via here) 'Samuel Sharpe and the Meaning of Freedom' by the Jamaican Baptist Horace Russell, a new occasional paper from the Centre for Baptist History and Heritage.
Just back from the Launch, Andy which was a great event and thanks for your positive response to the Project and the Website. Still a work in progress on both counts so I do hope others will engage with what is happening. Nick
